Do you know how to prepare your electric motorcycle for autumn riding? We’ve compiled some useful tips for you!

electric motorcycle autumn riding

As the autumn weather starts, days will become shorter and nights longer. For many riders, it can be an opportunity to enjoy a nighttime or rainy ride with friends. However, this also means that rains can occur much more often. Slippery roads and strong winds can make riding your electric motorcycle much trickier than during a sunny ride. While a bit of rain shouldn’t stop you from exploring the vast countryside, commuting to work, or simply enjoying the breeze with your electric bike, there is proper preparation that you should consider.

Preparing Your Electric Motorcycle for Autumn Ride

1. Inspect Your Lights

One of the major challenges of autumn riding is low visibility, particularly when it starts to rain. This situation applies to all vehicles on the road. You have to consider that you’re sharing the road with other drivers, and they must see you while you are driving. If you plan to go on a night ride this autumn, check your headlights thoroughly. Make sure they are all working. Try turning on the light at night and see if it’s not foggy.

Aside from your headlights, you should also check if all your signal lights are functioning as well. See if they are bright enough to be seen by other drivers on the road. Ideally, front headlights must be visible from at least 150 meters (500 feet) away. Taillights must be visible from 180 meters (600 feet).

2. Lower Tire Pressure

Since roads will be slippery, the tires should have more friction, which can be possible when you lower the tire pressure. As you lower the tire’s pressure, it allows a wider area to come into contact with the road. Reducing at least 10 psi from your normal pressure can improve the traction.

3. Install Fenders

While electric motorcycles for autumn riding would generally do not cause any issues with the battery or drivetrain, it’s best to install fenders to prevent excessive spray water and debris from affecting yourself and your electric motorcycle’s different components.

4. Check Your Brakes

It can be harder to control your motorcycle if you’re driving on slippery roads. Often, it can take more time for you to come to a full stop during wet weather. That’s why it would be best to slow down gradually. See to it that your brakes are working optimally. Note if there is wear and tear on your brake pads that you need to address.

5. Clean and Dry Your Electric Motorcycle

After your autumn ride, spending a few minutes cleaning and drying your electric motorcycle can help prolong its lifespan. While most electric bikes, like Evoke Motorcycles, are made with high-quality materials, debris and moisture can still cause damage over time. After each rainy ride, doing quick electric motorcycle maintenance can ensure you’ll enjoy more memorable rides with your bike.

Preparing your electric motorcycle for autumn riding should be part of your routine. This ensures that you’re going to have a safe and enjoyable ride with your friends. Don’t forget to plan your route and check weather conditions before heading out.
