Evoke Electric Motorcycles at Motor China 2023

Evoke jumped at the chance to be on show at the recent Beijing International Motorcycle Exhibition (Motor China) and despite a slightly sheltered spot, foot traffic between halls meant our Oceanic Blue Urban Classic and Obsidian Black 6061-GT caught the eye and provided a steady influx of curious and slightly incredulous passersby.

Electric motorcycles were still quite a rare sight at Beijing International Motorcycle Exhibition and notably what fit this description at the show other than our road-going models were those building on the success of light electric dirt bikes and catering to those looking to experience all the same thrills but less of the mess with the drastically reduced service needs of battery powered machines. This in part explained the slightly stunned expression of those passing by the Evoke Motorcycles Stand and drawn to our show bikes.

The apparent newness of our bikes to visitors to our stand was also due in part to the fact that aside from serving as a taxi between our engineering office and R&D shed (as our current arrangement dictates), every so often, these same bikes are piloted by our engineers to and from work and indeed tested on local streets along familiar routes, akin to turning laps on a test track. Although even along these well-trodden routes however, the bikes still manage to turn heads among fellow riders.

It's this small operational footprint (the definition of lean manufacturing) and a focus on overseas markets that only further validates our sustained presence online and maintaining good working relations with our partners, supporters and distributors worldwide.

One clear success metric in attending the exhibit was the chance for networking among component suppliers and fellow manufacturers, serving also as the first opportunity for new and remote team members to meet face to face. Reflecting on the event back at HQ, there was a discernible appetite for next year’s event, some thoughts on how best to maximize our efforts and a palpable degree of excitement for the next opportunity to showcase our growing model range.
