Is switching to electric motorcycles better than electric cars? Find out below.

Using a regular passenger vehicle is enough to emit roughly 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually , according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Each gallon of gasoline burned on the road equates to 8,887 grams of carbon dioxide. With climate change reaching critical levels, calls for shifting to a more environment-friendly solution to commuting are needed more than ever.

Thankfully, many are responding to the call. According to Statista, about 6.8 million battery-powered electric vehicles were used globally in 2020, with over three million additions to the EV worldwide fleet.

If you’re among those considering switching to an electric vehicle , the question you need to answer now would be - which is the better option - electric motorcycles or electric cars? The answer: Electric motorcycles. Here are the reasons why:

Environmental Factor

One of the most critical factors separating Tesla from the Urban S is the environmental factor. While all electric vehicles are known to have a positive effect on the environment, electric cars are notable for getting the worst mileage compared with motorcycles. From the size of the cars alone, using electric motorcycles makes better sense when it comes to getting the best possible mileage.

If you factor in the Euro 5 emission standard, you’ll realize that electric motorcycles are indeed a better option since they are not subject to these regulations since they have little amounts of carbon emissions, to begin with.

Commuting

Electric motorcycles also fare better than electric cars in terms of commuting . Nowadays, people rarely use the public transport system because of crowding. They don’t want to deal with the hassle of rushing to catch the next train. That’s why many of them would prefer driving to work.

However, urbanization has made it impossible for most car owners to look for parking spaces. With an electric motorcycle, users can enjoy the flexibility of commuting and not worry about parking spaces. Traffic will no longer be an issue as you can maneuver through traffic with ease since you can have a dedicated lane for your bike and explore alternative paths to reach your destination.

Cheaper and Convenient

Electric motorcycles are way cheaper compared with electric cars. Aside from the rebates and incentives you can get when buying an electric vehicle, maintenance is also easier. Switching to electric bikes is much more reasonable because it provides the riders the unique feeling of their drive. It doesn’t matter where you’re going. Whether it be for a drive around your local neighborhood or enjoying scenic views, riding a motorcycle gives you the freedom to enjoy nature.

Some may say that range is something electric cars can be better than electric motorcycles. It may be true. However, with the increasing number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, it doesn’t make much difference at all. With all the points mentioned above, what’s stopping you from switching to electric motorcycles?

In terms of automotive there may be a handful of principles that determine the overall form and componentry present on a vehicle. Inescapable is physics, aspirational is performance but as another 20th century icon dictated, there's no escaping the bottom line and in manufacturing that means a need to establish and maintain a lean operational footprint.
